Schools of College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine at
the University of Rwanda provide high level training to forthcoming
professional Agriculturists and Veterinaries. We are committed to incorporate
the three CAVM core values stream-lined in our mission into our curricula. We
strive to become responsive to the needs and challenges in the agricultural and
Animal Sciences area in Rwanda.
We
offer eleven undergraduate programmes in Animal Science, Crop Science, Soil Science,
Agricultural Mechanization, Agricultural Economics and Rural Development,
Irrigation and Drainage, Forestry and Nature Conservation, Animal Production,
Veterinary Medicine, Wild Life and Aquatic Resource Management, Food Science
and Technology all leading to the award of BSc. All these share most of
their first year, covering the basic physical and human science needed for
understanding the agricultural and animals field, its context, relevant skills
matched with ICTs. The first three share modules during the rest of the
programme – e.g. soil fertility watershed management, agricultural engineering,
geo-sciences, agricultural economics and farm management. They include a period
of internship.
Our
students and staff benefit from a tremendous working environment that enables
them to fully exploit their potentials. We also offer Master’s degree in
Agroforestry and Soil Management, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Medicine,
Crop Sciences, and Forestry. Our mission is providing access to
quality education, conduct research and provide services to the community. We
provide professional skills to suit the National, Regional and Global context.
