                                   Department of Animal Production                                                                   

The Department of Animal Production was established in 1989 with the mission of training highly skilled technicians to contribute into animal production and animal resources development.
The Department has 231 students, 112 at advanced Diploma level and 119 at bachelor’s Degree level.
The permanent teaching staffs include 2 Phd holders,8 Msc Holders,3 member on Phd Training and 2 members on Msc training and 2 Bsc Degree holders.
    II.            MISSION
Ø  Deliver quality teaching on different subjects concerning animal production.
Ø  Conduct research in the field related to animal production.
Ø  Contribute to the community development, through technology transfer activities.
 III.            VISION
Ø  Livestock is one of the pillars for the Rwandan economy; therefore we must improve our institutional capacity as well as human resources in order to achieve our goals.
  IV.            OBJECTIVES
Ø  Manage animal production in a farm business, sectors or districts,
Ø  Manage pasture, forage production and animal nutrition
Ø  Use modern techniques and tools in animal genetic improvement
Ø  Increase animal products for human nutrition
